Every yard is different, and thus needs a customized plan to stay green and healthy. A customized lawn treatment plan lets us build a program around your grass type, soil, and weed-control needs.

The Great Estates Landscaping Commercial Turf Care program was developed specifically for southern turf. We use a combination of liquid and dry-granular products, with seven annual applications: Two applications of weed control in the spring for pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control. Three applications of slow-release fertilizers to promote active growth and superb color during the summer. Finally, two additional rounds of weed control in the fall and winter for cool-weather weeds.

There are times when your turf needs a boost. We offer several services to invigorate your lawn and promote growth, such as aeration, overseeding, top-dressing and lime applications.

Lawn Aeration

Lawn aeration involves the removal of small soil plugs out of the lawn to reduce the compaction of your lawn. Over time, the soil in your yard becomes compacted, preventing the optimal growth of your lawn. Core aeration can benefit your lawn by:

• Increasing the activity of soil microorganisms that decompose thatch.
• Increasing water, nutrient, and oxygen movement into the soil.
• Improving the root system.
• Enhancing the infiltration of rainfall or irrigation.
• Helping to prevent fertilizer and pesticide run-off from overly compacted areas.

Overseeding

Overseeding is recommended for your lawn when aeration is performed. It helps to maintain a thick lawn and to revive bare spots. When overseeding is performed at the same time as aeration, the seeds have a greater chance of germinating and growing because of increased contact with the soil. Overseeding allows oxygen to the roots, reduces soil compaction and improves turf density.

Top Dressing

Top dressing is the process of applying compost, soil, or sand over the surface of your lawn. Top dressing is simply a way of adding organic material and restoring the balance to home lawns, building better soil and increasing soil flora. Top dressing can be applied after aeration to speed turf recovery. When applied following core aeration, the topdressing material filters into the holes opened by the aeration process, speeding turf recovery.
