Great Estates Landscaping is so proud of our amazing, local community. Our goal is to create gorgeous green spaces that add value and show our pride for the community. Recently, Great Estates was honored with the Small Business of the Month award from the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce.
The honor grew from the prestigious Dick James Small Business of the Year awards, which are presented annually by the chamber; winners must be nominated by a community member. We wanted to take this opportunity to also highlight three of our favorite Covington projects!
One of our most favorite projects was the completion of the downtown Covington square. If you happen to stroll through the square, check out our installations! We created median gardens along the crosswalks, bringing in hardy, colorful flowers that can withstand the Georgia heat and cared for the historic live oaks and magnolias in the center park. Visitors to the square can enjoy the beauty of downtown, while staying cool in the shade.
We also completed a couple of pro bono projects to revitalize some areas near downtown. We created a “pocket park” on the corner of Washington Street and Pace Street. It’s a small area where people can rest and relax under the shade and protection of the trees. And, head down to Turner’s Lake and you’ll eventually hit a round-a-bout. Have you ever noticed the beautiful shrubs and plants in the center island of the round-a-bout? Great Estates Landscaping designed this island for visual impact using colorful, flowering shrubs and annual beds. It’s just another way Great Estates brings nature back to an urban setting.
We are honored to be awarded the Small Business of the Month by the Newton County Chamber of Commerce. We hope other businesses will join the charge to revitalize our greenspaces. Our contributions will continue to grow and flourish, because of our passion for bringing our clients beautiful landscaping.
